[ARCHIVED] January 24 City-Wide Update & Resource Information

Village of The Hills City-Wide Update:

  • Trash & Recycling Update: Due to the upcoming weather, trash and recycling collection has been moved to Tuesday, January 27, at the usual time. The POA has been notified of this change.
  • City Preparation & Road Conditions: The City has resources in place to treat road surfaces as needed. If you notice a roadway that may need attention, please contact helpdesk@thehillstx.gov.
  • City officials are actively monitoring weather conditions. Voyant alerts will be issued if needed.
  • City Closures: The Hills City Park & facilities will be closed this weekend out of an abundance of caution.
  • State-wide road conditions reported here.

💧 Household Water or Pipe Issues

  • Know where your water shutoff valve is located (typically near the street).
  • In the event of a leak or burst pipe, shut off water at the meter first and confirm the meter stops moving.
  • Hurst Creek MUD (Water/Wastewater): 📞 512-261-6281 (Option 2)

⚡ Power Outages

Residents are served by either Austin Energy or Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC). Please contact your provider directly to report outages:

  • If safe to do so, consider reaching out to nearby neighbors, who may have better access.
  • You may also post requests for assistance on the Engage Community Feed.
  • For help connecting with resources, email helpdesk@thehillstx.gov. This inbox is monitored during the day and supported by multiple power and internet sources.
  • In any emergency, always call 911.

🧣 Winter Preparedness: Protect the 4 P’s

People: Check on neighbors and family who may need help. Dress in layers and limit time outdoors.
Pets: Bring pets indoors and keep them warm and dry.
Pipes: Open cabinet doors, allow indoor faucets to drip, and insulate exposed pipes and outdoor spigots.
Plants: Bring plants indoors or cover them to protect from freezing temperatures.
